Energy Saving Services
There are a number of ways to reduce your electrical energy bill. From day to day procedures you can do, to energy saving products we can install.
Useful Tips You Can Apply To Your Home
Energy Saving Light Bulbs
On average 10% - 15% of your home electricity bill is for lighting. One easy way to reduce this is to change traditional light bulbs for energy saving ones. Although these can be more expensive to buy, they are worth the investment as they last over 10 times longer and use up to 4 times less energy. Always remember though no matter how energy efficient they are, turn the lights off when you leave the room. On a new build 70% of lighting must contain energy saving fittings.
Electrical Appliances On Standby
Most of us turn electricity appliances off (T.V, Radio, etc) using the remote control and leaving the appliance on stand by. By doing this the appliance is still using electricity and wastes a considerable amount of energy. Items left on stand by still use up to 85% of the energy they would use if fully switched on. So by turning it off by the plug or mains power button saves you energy and money.
Solar Garden Lighting
There are lots of solar garden lights on the market that are highly energy efficient. You do not require any electrical cables to be installed and you are able to install them yourself. They are not as bright as normal lighting but less intrusive as normal lighting.
Boiling a Kettle
Huge amounts of energy are wasted by boiling to much water in your kettle. Remember only boil enough water that is needed to be used on each occasion.
Energy Saving Products
Solar Panels - Electricity From Photovoltaic Solar Panels
Photovoltaic solar panels are installed on your roof top, which then converts the suns rays into electricity. This electricity can then be used in your home. Even on cloudy days the panels are generating electricity as they work on light intensity and not on direct sun light or heat. The electricity generated will be used to power your home and any surplus generated can be then sold to the national grid. So not only do you save money, you are also generating money!!
V-Phase Units
The UK electrical distributor works on a nominal voltage of 230V, but on average this is much higher. Typically your voltage input is around 240V - 245V. The V-Phase unit works by reducing the voltage down to 220V. All of your electrical appliances are still able to operate at this level of voltage. By reducing the voltage you reduce the amount of power being consumed by the electrical appliance. Typically you are able to reduce your electricity bill by around 10%, so the unit will pay for itself.
Immersion Heater Timers
Vast amounts of electricity are wasted by keeping on your immersion heater 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. By installing an immersion heater timer you are able to control the power going to the element, thus reducing the amount of electricity used and saving you money.
Low Energy Lighting
Installing low energy lighting around your home is a great way of saving electricity. 10-15% of your electricity bill is made up from lighting your home. Rather than just replacing light bulbs for low energy lamps, we can install permanent light fixtures which are energy efficient. Most low energy lamps cannot be dimmed, so to achieve that desired lighting level you will need to change the fixture.
